Sixth Form Curriculum
At King’s Park we offer our Post 16 students the opportunity to achieve a Progression qualification through the awarding body LASER.
Progression qualifications can be achieved at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2. Students will work towards an Award, Certificate or Diploma at the level that most suits their current academic needs.
The Progression course has been designed to support all of our students to achieve by demonstrating what they can do in the way that suits them best. We aim to equip them with the academic, social communication, life and vocational skills they will need to take their next steps in education, training or employment.
We offer a range of pathways to achieve a Progression qualification. Students can choose to study a range of subjects which this year include a Creative option, Sport, Catering and Business. The option subjects allow students to have some choice in the projects that they work on and have been chosen to maximise enjoyment, love of learning and achievement.
Alongside options all students will take Life Skills, Well Being and RSHE. This is our core provision and has been designed to support the development of independent living skills, confidence, self -awareness and knowledge of the world beyond school.
All students who join the sixth form will continue to work towards an appropriate English and maths qualification if they have not yet achieved a grade 4 or above in these subjects.
Those students that have already achieved GCSEs at a grade 4 or above in English and/ or maths will continue to develop their English and maths skills with our Literacy and Numeracy for life lessons.
