RSHE at Newhaven: RSHE at Newhaven aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to lead healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives. It covers essential aspects of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, helping students understand and manage their health and relationships effectively. RSHE also fosters respect, empathy, and inclusivity, teaching students about consent, boundaries, and healthy interactions. By addressing topics such as online safety, mental health, and preparation for adult life, RSHE supports students in making informed decisions and developing positive attitudes. Ultimately, it empowers young people to build resilience, navigate challenges, and contribute positively to their communities.

Our curriculum: At Newhaven School, we operate our curriculum on a two-year cycle that alternates between Year 1 and Year 2, ensuring that Key Stage 3 students engage with vital topics in Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE). The chosen topics—such as wellbeing and emotional regulation, healthy lifestyles, online safety, respectful relationships, transitioning to adulthood, community, citizenship, and the impact of social media—are integral to fostering students’ personal development. They empower students to manage their emotions, make informed health choices, navigate the digital world responsibly, and understand their rights and responsibilities within society. By focusing on these areas, we aim to equip our students with the essential knowledge and skills to thrive as responsible, informed, and compassionate individuals.
