Race Equality Action Plan
Race Equality Action Plan
Newhaven is committed to anti-racism as part of our Equality duty which requires us ‘to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation’ and ‘to advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic under the Equality Act of 2010.
With regards to race we recognise that we are in a context of systemic racism which means we must take significant action to teach our young people that there is a different way in which society can operate and to move towards greater equity for all our students and staff. The Race Equality Action Plan shows our first tentative steps towards this goal.
The Equality Act 2010 requires us to publish information that demonstrates that we have due regard for the need to:
- Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
- Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
- Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
