On Tuesday 19th March, students who have shared an interest in getting into the construction industry were taken to a live construction site at Canary Wharf.
We had the chance to view the Wood Wharf site from a viewing platform and speak to industry professionals about how the development began and how it was progressing. We watched a time lapse of the site which was really interesting and students learnt about various different roles that were involved in the process.
Whilst we were there we were approached by building magazine who were keen to talk to our students about their career ideas, thoughts about the day and the industry. Two of our students and a member of staff were interviewed and all represented the school fabulously! The reporter commented on how eloquent and insightful our students were.
We will be keeping an eye out of the article when it has been released.
Overall the trip was really inspiring for students and caused a lot of conversation on the train home. We also came away with some industry contacts to support students employment and future goals. It was great to see our students so engaged and accessing employment sectors that they may otherwise not have been able to.
