The Art Department at King’s Park have partnered up with the V&A Museum to deliver a bespoke curriculum on the history of Japan through the visual arts.

Initially, Foundation students were invited to participate in kimono making workshops run by specialist from the museum where they learnt about how the Japanese aesthetic has influenced the world and had the opportunity to handle artefacts from the museum.

Students then travelled across London, using public transport, to visit the museum in person. We had private access to the Japan Gallery at the V&A were students were guided through the collection through interactive games and sensory exploration. We were then asked to join a pin wheel workshop using patterns and motifs from Japanese culture which the students were able to bring back to KP.

Once again our Foundation students demonstrated how mature and respectful they are and impressed the curators at the V&A with their positive energy and creative abilities.
