Forest School – Fun at any time of year!

Wintry weather didn’t stop Y7 having a fantastic time at Forest School in Oxleas Woods last week.

It started with Lucy (Forest School teacher) hearing the distinctive sound of a woodpecker in the distance. We followed the sound and were delighted to spot a woodpecker in a nearby tree.

Lucy then led a scavenger hunt, where students picked a card with a description such as, spiky, straight or crunchy. They then had to search for a natural object to fit the description. They did this until their egg box was full!

It was wonderful to see the students exploring the woods and having fun outdoors.

Forest School is part of the Key Stage 3 curriculum at Newhaven and allows students to develop communication and team building skills whilst learning about the wonders of the forest.
