We are thrilled to announce that Newhaven School has partnered with Royal Museums Greenwich for their Partner School Project during the 2024-25 academic year!

This exciting collaboration will bring together our students, teachers, and families with the Museum’s Schools Learning Team, along with the fascinating collections of the National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, and ‘Cutty Sark.’

The aim of this partnership is to build meaningful connections between our school and the Museum, creating enriching experiences that inspire creativity, foster a sense of ownership, and enhance learning for everyone involved. Here are some highlights of what this collaboration entails:

Pupils Exploring Heritage and Creativity

Students will explore the Museum’s collections, connecting them to their own experiences and developing new skills by using these resources creatively. Through workshops and activities, they’ll learn about our shared heritage in a hands-on, inspiring way.

Teacher Development

Newhaven staff have benefited from specialised CPD sessions led by the Museum’s Learning Team, boosting our confidence in using museum collections to enhance curriculum learning.

A Collaborative Artist Journey

After interviewing three artists, our students selected the talented Joel Chidi Sydenham to lead this journey. Together, they’ll collaborate on an exciting project that integrates creativity, heritage, and personal expression.

Engaging Families and Our Community

We hope this partnership will also encourage Newhaven parents to visit and explore the Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG), discovering it as an enriching space for the whole family.

This collaboration is already off to a wonderful start, with Museum staff and artist Joel Sydenham visiting Newhaven School to engage with students and staff. We can’t wait to see what the rest of this exciting journey will bring for our school community! Stay tuned for updates and stories from this inspiring partnership!
