Dear parents and carers,
As I’m sure you are aware, despite the many benefits of the internet we continue to be worried about the risks young people face online. We also know that parents are a key strength in keeping their children safe but how hard it is to keep up with what’s going on for our children online.
To support you with this, I am sharing two pieces of guidance to help you have conversations with your children. These are about sexual harassment from the children’s commissioner and financially motivated sexual extortion (often known as ‘sextortion’) from the National Crime Agency. We also cover these topics in RSHE lessons in school.
Financially Motivated Sexual Extortion (FMSE): advice for parents and carers
Young people’s advice on talking to your child about online sexual harassment
If you have any concerns or questions that you need to ask, then please get in touch with the school.
Yours faithfully
Jon Kelly- Headteacher
