On Wednesday 22nd January KS3 students from Kings Park visited Plumstead Fire Station in collaboration with the Heritage of London Trust & Proud Places.

Over the past few months, the Heritage of London Trust has refurbished the fire station and the ‘missing lantern’ of 1906 has been restored. Students visited the fire station to learn about it’s history and significance within our local community.

During the visit students were taken on a tour of the fire station, had the opportunity to speak to fire fighters about their job roles and fire safety whilst also getting to have a go at using some of the equipment.

All of the students really got involved and asked some truly insightful questions.

Proud Places will be visiting KS3 in school for a follow up creative session where students will begin to create their own lantern in a similar style to the ‘missing lantern’.
