Newhaven School

ACHIEVEMENT & ENJOYMENT THROUGH LEARNING

Students/Parents

Dear parents

I wanted to give you early notice of some changes to the advertised school calendar over the Christmas holidays.

The Greenwich published term dates are as follows:

  • Break up for Christmas on Wednesday December 20th, returning to school on January 2nd

Newhaven term dates are as follows:

  • Break up for Christmas on Friday December 22nd, returning to school on January 8th

Please be assured that your child will not be missing out on any of their education with this extended holiday. We have one INSET day arranged for November 27th but following this our staff will not be holding another INSET day throughout the year, meaning no further days off school apart from published holidays.   Should you have any questions related to this, do not hesitate to contact the school.

Many thanks

Martyn Patterson

Prevent Statement

Newhaven School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its pupils. As a school we recognise that safeguarding against radicalisation is no different from safeguarding against any other vulnerability. All staff are expected to uphold and promote the fundamental principles of British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect of all faiths and beliefs and receive the necessary training and support to do so. We actively promote these values, challenging opinions or behaviours in our school that are contrary to fundamental British / moral values. In formulating this statement the school has taken account of the guidance from the Department for Education (DfE) who have called for all public bodies to make explicit their preventative measures to minimise the threat of extremism in their setting
