Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: King’s Park Transition Information 2023
What a year it’s been, particularly for our KS4 and 5 pupils who have been engaged with assessments and completing classwork this term that will contribute to their overall final grade this year. It’s certainly a testament to their determination and perseverance that we arrive at the examination period feeling positive and confident that students will do well. To say we are exceptionally proud of their efforts would be an understatement.
The last day of term for our Year 11 and Sixth Form students will be Friday 26th May, 2023. However in order for all students to have adequate support and preparation time for exams students should continue to attend their examination lessons until their final paper. If they are able to travel independently they will be able to arrive for their designated lessons and then leave site. If transport is required we will have a programme of study and enrichment for the day.
Exams can be a stressful time for students. We have scheduled some time for students to speak with Rekha Vara, our Clinical Psychologist, leading up to the exams if they would like some additional support to manage this. On exam days students are welcome to attend from 8.30am to speak to their subject teachers or to have breakfast. The morning exams will start at 9 am and therefore students should be in school no later than 8.50 am. Please ask your child to bring a bottle of water for each exam (the label must be removed before taking it into the exam hall).
Please talk to your child about the importance of being on time and having time to relax and prepare before the exam. It is really important that they sleep well the night before and are not late on the day. The exam regulations are clear that if a student arrives after the start of the exam, they may still be allowed to enter the exam room, but if they are very late they will not be admitted and may not be awarded a mark for the exam.
The current Examination Series we will finish on June 19th at King’s Park. We will then invite all leavers with their parents back for the National Record of Achievement Day on Friday 23rd June at 1.30pm. I very much hope you and your child will be able to attend.
Students intending to continue within the Sixth Form will be invited to a King’s Park Sixth Form Transition Week from the 10th July, including taster lessons, tutor group bonding, getting ready for Sixth Form, individual planning for next year and will culminate in a BBQ on the Friday of that week
On days when your child is not in full-time, independent travellers will be expected to make their own way to and from school. If your child usually travels by Greenwich Transport, Chloe has informed Transport of the revised times of travel on these days. Please feel free to contact Greenwich Transport yourself if you need any clarification.
We look forward to supporting your child with the next phase of their educational journey.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
Alan Fairnie: Head of Campus King’s Park
