Keeping safe online

keeping safe online

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am enclosing the new Children’s Commissioners guide for parents and carers on how to keep your children safe online. It is based on advice from 16-21 year olds on how we can do better as parents – I have found it a really useful read.

The key message is start talking to your children about online safety before they have their own devices and accounts. However, it’s never too late to get involved. The main areas covered are:

  • Easily accessed online pornography
  • Pressure to send nude pictures
  • Sexualised bullying
  • Editing pictures and body image
  • Peer pressure

Please also feel free to ring the school and talk to your child’s mentor, tutor, pastoral manager or member of SLT if you are worried about any thing relating to online safety.

Yours faithfully,

Jon Kelly (Headteacher)
