Dear Parents and Carers,
End of term arrangements and vapes
I hope my email finds you well. Its only two weeks to go until the end of the year and it’s hard to believe how quickly this year has gone. There have been many highlights for me including our role in the recent very positive SEND Ofsted area inspection. The report should be published soon if you want to read. For the end of term we will have the usual arrangements. School will start at 9 on Friday 21st July and finish with assembly at 11.30. Students will leave at around 12pm.
I’d also like to raise our concerns about the use of vapes by our young people. We have had lots of issues with vapes in school recently and it worries me that research is lacking into the long term effects on the lungs and other bodily functions. There is also a concern that vape fluid with cannabis extracts have become readily available online and more and more young people are using them. We will remain vigilant and contact you immediately if your young people appear to be under the influence. Please talk to your child and keep a close eye out yourselves.
Finally, I’d also like to thank all of you for your support of the school this year through good times and tough with your children- working together really helps to keep them on track. Thanks also to the staff who once again have gone above and beyond to build trust with our students, and make sure that they have the skills to resolve problems as they arrive and achieve the academic qualifications they need to go on to their next steps.
Yours faithfully
Jon Kelly
