Dear parents and carers,
I hope this email finds you safe and well. I am writing to you to update you on the Covid 19 situation in school. In a week when numbers of people infected in Greenwich is falling quite fast, we have had a slight increase in cases at Newhaven and now have 9 students and 3 members of staff isolating across the three main parts of the school. In line with our risk assessment and government guidelines we are not advising others to self-isolate but as a matter of courtesy will contact you if we think your child has come into close contact with anyone who tests positive. Under these circumstances, I ask that you get your child to test daily for seven days before coming to school. I’d like all students to continue to test twice a week to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
We continue to take other measures in school to reduce the spread of the virus such as:
- Wearing masks
- Extra hand washing
- Increased ventilation
- Increased general hygiene
- Increased cleaning
We also continue to have the advantage over many schools that we are not cramped in and are so able to space out more. Please do feel free to contact me or any of your key people at the school to discuss any worries you have. We are working very hard to make sure your children can stay in school and continue learning.
Yours faithfully
Jon Kelly (Head teacher)
